Question: I find it easy to be present when I’m doing something I enjoy, but I find it very difficult to be present when I’m doing something I don’t enjoy like laundry, house cleaning, paying my bills, or when I’m bored.
Sullins: Those things that you don’t enjoy are precisely the things you need to be present to! Life is not limited to just the things you enjoy. Your life is composed of every single second you are alive, every breath you take, every beat of your heart.
If you have children, do you stop being a parent when it becomes too challenging? Or stop being a spouse during the difficult times? Or quit your job because you had a hard day? Of course not.
Your Being is tested is during the difficult times. Do you rise to the occasion? Or, do you accept defeat?
It is not easy to be present. If it were, everyone would be doing it. You must make the effort to be present all the time.
If you are serious about awakening, consider making a simple vow with your soul.
“I want to awaken. I promise to nurture, protect, and respect my soul. I will make the effort to be present in good times and bad, easy and difficult, till death do my body and soul part.”
